What Is a Form Guide?

A form guide ranks teams by their results over the most recent matches — typically the last five. Unlike the league table which reflects the entire season, the form guide highlights which teams are performing well right now. A mid-table team on a five-match winning streak is arguably in better shape than a second-placed team that has drawn their last four.

Our form guide uses a colour-coded W-D-L dot system so you can instantly see patterns. The Last 5 Pts column ranks teams by points from the last five matches (max 15). Teams scoring 12+ are highlighted green (dominant form), while those at 4 or below are highlighted red (in freefall).

Using Form for Betting Decisions

Form is one of the strongest short-term predictors of match outcomes. Teams in good form tend to carry momentum — confidence is high, the starting eleven is settled, and tactical patterns are working. Conversely, teams on losing streaks often suffer from low morale, squad rotation, and managerial pressure.

However, beware of recency bias. A team that won five straight against bottom-half opposition looks great on the form guide, but may be about to face a run of top-six fixtures. Always check the upcoming fixture list and combine form data with overall team quality metrics like xG, shots, and possession.

Form and the Goals Market

Form does not just apply to match results — it also indicates goal trends. A team scoring in every match of a five-game streak is a strong BTTS "Yes" candidate, while a team that has kept four clean sheets in five is ideal for Under bets. Cross-reference with our goals statistics and clean sheet data for the season-long baseline, then use form to see if the recent trend confirms or diverges from it.
