Frequently Asked Questions

How are these correct score predictions made?

A goals model gives each team an expected number of goals from its recent attack and defence, then works out the chance of every scoreline. The three most likely are shown, with their chance in percent.

Why is the most likely score only around 10%?

Football has many possible scores, so even the likeliest one usually happens only about one game in eight to twelve. That is why correct score odds are long: a 10% chance is fair odds of 10.00. Treat these as the shape of a match, not a sure thing.

Which matches are included?

Matches whose prediction can be checked against a bookmaker price and sits close to it. Where the model and the market disagree by more than 15 points on the result, the model is usually missing team news, so those matches are left out.
